Pike County man killed in car accident

NEBO, Ill. (WGEM) -

A Pike County man was killed early Saturday morning in a car crash near Nebo, Illinois, according to the Pike County Sheriff's Department.

The Pike County Sheriff's Department responded to a single vehicle accident on County Highway #10 at 5:29 a.m., approximately 1 mile west of Nebo toward Pleasant Hill.

Officials say 28 year-old Brian M. Walston of Nebo, was reportedly traveling eastbound into Nebo when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a guardrail, leaving the roadway and overturning in a nearby field.

A passerby reported the accident after seeing Walston's vehicle overturned in a field.

Walston was believed to be traveling home from work when the accident occurred.

Walston was transported by ambulance to Illini Community Hospital and then air lifted to Blessing Hospital in Quincy before being pronounced deceased.

The accident remains under investigation by the Pike County Sheriff's Department and both the Pike and Adams County Coroners' offices.
