A Quincy apartment complex is getting a big makeover.
The Quincy Housing Authority's Indian Hills subdivision will undergo a $1.4 million electrical upgrade.
Executive Director Jerry Gille says a state grant will pay for most of the project. Gille says the plan is to replace transformers, overhead lights, and wiring in the apartments.
He says safety is the number one reason for the overhaul.
"We were having brown outs during peak usage time and we've even had three very small fires as a result of worn insulation on the overhead lights," Gille said.
Gille says work should begin as early as next week. Construction could take four to six months.
