Quincy Historic Business District eyes improvements in 2013

After a successful year of expansion in downtown Quincy, the next big venture may be online.

People gathered Wednesday night at the Quincy Senior Center for the Quincy Historic Business District's annual meeting.  2012 was a big year for adding new businesses, but downtown leaders are looking for more ways to boost the bottom line.  Executive Director Travis Brown is launching a website that will allow downtown businesses to sell their products online.

"We wanted to make sure we were giving our businesses a competitive advantage to compete in that market place. And so we're really excited to roll out shop downtown quincy and give our member businesses that opportunity to be in that place," Brown said.

Brown says another goal is to have 600 businesses in downtown Quincy by the end of the year. Right now there are 584 businesses.
