New Palmyra teen center wants to be "the Main Hangout"

Posted: Updated:

Palmyra's new teen hangout center opened its doors Saturday.

The Main Hangout is now open at 110 West Main Cross in Palmyra, in the former NAPA Auto Parts building.

"We put our heads together and decided to try a teen center," co-owner Ron Kraft said. "We started forming a Board of Directors, along with a Youth Board of Directors, and located a supplier for a variety of games and pool tables. Then things just started to fall in place."

Thanks to numerous donations, the facility is now equipped with a game room and a 12'x16' stage for bands and other acts.

The Main Hangout is still looking for donations of furniture for items such as stools and paint to complete the rear portion of the building.

If anyone would like to donate, the Main Hangout has partnered with Families and Communities Together (F.A.C.T.) in Hannibal as their fiscal agent.

Any donations can made out to F.A.C.T. , #4 Melgrove Lane, Hannibal, and designated for the Main Hangout, or call Ron Kraft at 537-248-8878.
