LA JOLLA, Ca. (WGEM) -- The eagle landed twice for Luke Guthrie on Thursday.
The Quincy native pitched in from the fairway at the par-5 18th hole to round out a 2-under par 34 on his first nine holes during the opening round of the PGA Tour's Farmers Insurance Open.
He then birdied two of his first three holes on the back-9 before recording another eagle on the par-5 6th hole after chipping in from the bunker.
Guthrie finished with a 4-under 68 which is good enough for a tie for 20th place heading into Friday's second round.
He is three shots off the lead.
