PITTSFIELD, Ill. (WGEM) -- The West Central's loss continues to inch closer to being the Sangamo's gain.
And it looks more and more as though the Pittsfield/Griggsville-Perry football program will be playing in a new conference two seasons from now.
Pittsfield athletic director Don Bigley tells WGEM Sports the Sangamo Conference voted Wednesday night to accept the Saukees for football only beginning in 2014.
The approval means all that's left for the move to become official is the Pikeland School Board giving a final go-ahead next month.
Bigley doesn't envision that being a problem considering the board voted 6-0 to apply for the conference switch last month.
The move to the Sangamo will allow P/GP to play nine conference games, all on Friday nights, and provides stability and better travel.
