QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- The Quincy Notre Dame wrestling program is gearing up for its biggest event of the season.
The Raiders will play host to their annual QND Invitational on Saturday which includes 17 teams with several of those squads teams from the tri-state area plus the likes of Kirksville, East St. Louis, and St. Thomas More from Champaign.
QND head coach Ken Mansell says with regionals coming up next weekend the event gives his team a golden chance to prepare for the postseason.
"With all the competition coming in the main goal with all the kids is to put themselves in a position where they have the utmost confidence in themselves to be in a position to advance to the state tournament," Mansell said.
"Win, lose, or draw this weekend doesn't deter them from their goal of going on to state and putting themselves on the platform. However, they need to prove themselves out there."
The QND Invitational begins at 9:15 a.m. and runs throughout the day at The Pit.
