(WGEM) -- Pike County once again led the state in deer harvest totals for the 2012-13 hunting seasons.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources reports a total of 7,239 deer were taken in during archery, youth, firearm, muzzleloader, and late-winter seasons in Pike County.

Adams County was third in total harvest with 4,606.

Hunters across the state harvested a total of 180,669 during all the deer seasons, about 1,000 less than 2011-12.

During this year's deer seasons, hunters took 49 percent does and 51 percent males.  Illinois' record deer harvest occurred in the 2005-06 season, when 201,209 deer were taken.
