Authorities warn death threat email scam could be in your inbox

HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -

Local authorities are warning of another online threat: a death threat email scam.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office says the email states that unless you send money, you will be killed.

Investigators say this is a scam and the emails have been traced back to Russia.

Authorities say if you receive one of these messages, do not open or answer it, and call your local police immediately.
