Some Quincy kids pledged to Jump into healthy living Friday afternoon.
Jump Rope For Heart kicked off at Monroe Elementary School. The kids saw a presentation and were given a starting kit to raise money for heart disease.
Organizers say it's important to hold events like this to teach kids good habits early.
"My hope that they would get out of it is to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, maybe five a day so I asked them what kind of fruits and vegetable they like. I hope they want to eat carrots and apples instead of french fries and ice cream as much and also just learning to be active," said Jenna Wiesner of the American Heart Association.
The jump rope events will be held the week of February 11.
