Local Church Hosts Prom Dress Re-Sale

Prom can be an expensive event for girls with shoes, make up, hair. But one local church is looking to take away some of the burden when it comes to the dress.

First Christian Church in Palmyra is holding its third annual used prom dress sale. Girls can buy a slightly used dress, or they can sell one of their own.

Organizers loved the idea after seeing a similar sale a few years ago and decided to bring the idea home.

"With the economy the way it is it's a wonderful way to save on prices. We have dresses here that were bought originally for $400 and $500 and if you can come and buy that dress that's only been worn once and spend $200 or $150, you know, you're getting a very big bargain," First Christian Church fundraising committee chair Nancy Goellner.

And some dresses are even available for free.

The sale at the First Christian Church in Palmyra runs Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
