Guthrie finishes strong, trails Woods by four strokes


LA JOLLA, Ca. (WGEM) -- Halfway home and Luke Guthrie is chasing Tiger Woods.

The Quincy native carded a 3-under 69 during Friday's second round of the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour.

Guthrie is -7 overall and shares ninth place with six other golfers.

The field is chasing Woods (-11) who's 7-under round of 65 has the world's former number one player in the lead by two shots over Billy Horschel.

Guthrie began the day with two consecutive birdies and ended his front-9 with a 3-under 33.

After back-to-back bogeys Guthrie bounced back with a birdie at the par-3 12th hole and another birdie at the par-5 18th.
