Two arrested after McDonough County pursuit

MCDONOUGH COUNTY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Two people wanted on Rock Island County warrants were arrested Sunday night after a brief car chase that started in McDonough County.

A McDonough County Sheriff's Deputy made a traffic stop at 7 p.m. for speeding and improper lane usage. The 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe was southbound on US 67 and pulled over a half mile south of University Avenue.

When the deputy approached the car, the driver quickly drove away and headed northbound on US 67 into Warren County.

Warren County Sheriff's Deputies laid down stop sticks on US 67 causing the driver to turn onto 150th Avenue. The vehicle then came to a stop and the driver and a passenger ran away from the vehicle into a field where they threw bags of money. Deputies caught the two men after a short foot chase and they were tased for not following orders. 

Arrested were Lashawn D. Hensley and Kendall D. Randolph, both 20-years-old from Rock Island. Randolph was lodged in the McDonough County Jail on Rock Island County warrants for armed violence, unlawful possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and aggravated unlawful use of weapons.

He was also charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving while license suspended, speeding, improper lane usage in McDonough County.

Hensley was held on a felony Rock Island County warrant for aggravated fleeing and eluding with a McDonough County charge of obstructing justice in McDounough County.

A total of $4,000 was found in the bags thrown in the field and an additional $831 was found on the suspects.

McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker says the incident is still under investigation.
