Ralls County Sheriff's Department to improve radio equipment

The Ralls County Sheriff's office is in the process of improving communication to keep you safer.
Federal grant money will be used to buy new radio equipment, and that will help in two ways.
First, it protects personal information by limiting what's heard over public scanners, and second it improves coverage in some hard to reach areas in the eastern part of the county.

"Unfortunately in our changing times, it's not nearly as safe as it used to be, things aren't nearly as predictable as they used to be and you have to be much more cautious and so this is just a huge safety aspect for the officers involved," Chief Deputy Ronald Haught said.

He also said the system could be installed within a month or two.
