Local tax preparers busy as people file taxes

Tax season is officially underway and preparers at H&R Block in Quincy say this is their busiest time of the year.

Tax preparers encourage people to not overlook the Earned Income Tax Credit.

The EITC is for families with low or moderate incomes

According to the Center for Economic Progress, a couple with 3 kids that is making a gross income of $50,000 or less could get more than $5,500 back from the federal government.

Even if your not sure if you qualify, local tax preparers say come in and get started.

"You can come in and we can start with all the other information and then just finish up as you get those last documents but, you don't want to send the tax return until everything is there," said Tera Schultz with H&R Block.

Schultz says even though the processing didn't start until January 30 this year, there isn't expected to be any delays on your returns.
