A man who started out as a teacher and football coach, and later became principal at Quincy Notre Dame was recognized Saturday night.
The QCES foundation honored Ray Heilmann tonight for his dedication to the Catholic education.
The evening included dinner, fellowship, and telling stories about Heilmann's work at QND.
Heilmann says Catholic education is so important and special to him.
"You can holistically teach and role model - and it's not just the academic that you see that's very, very important - but also the spiritual development, the social development, the athletic development, it's the whole scheme of it - and that's what makes Catholic education so special," he said.
The event also marked the end of Catholic Schools Week.
