Boy Scouts Celebrate 102 Years

Posted:
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Dozens of Boy Scouts got together over the weekend to enjoy the great outdoors, winter style.

Camp Eastman was full of scouts and parents, for the annual Yukon event. This year, it happens to fall during National Scouting Month.

For John McKillip, the president of the Mississippi Valley Council, the scouting anniversary is a chance to celebrate Boy Scout accomplishments in the previous year.

"Our council, locally, we recorded over 11 thousand community service hours on various projects that all the scouts have done and nationally we contributed over 25 million community service hours," he said.

McKillip says that all month the Scouts will have blue and gold banquets and other celebrations in honor of their 102nd anniversary.
