Quincy City Officials Will Draft Concealed Carry Ordinance

The Quincy City Council is taking steps to make concealed carry legal in Quincy.

Mike Rein, 5th Ward Alderman, requested a city ordinance be drafted to allow concealed carry within city limits.

Aldermen voted unanimously to move forward with that.

"I was very impressed that the alderman unanimously supported that. I think that it's absolutely prudent that we move forward with our own," said Rein.

Illinois lawmakers are currently drafting legislation to make concealed carry legal after an appellate court ruling late last year mandated a new law be written within six months.

Once that happens, the city ordinance would spell out where concealed weapons would be allowed in Quincy
