Hannibal police make arrest in connection with January shooting

HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -

Hannibal police have made an arrest in connection with a January shooting.

The Hannibal Police Department says Martez D. Peete, 25, of Hannibal, was arrested at 2 p.m. Monday. Detectives say they located Peete in the attic of a residence in Mexico, Missouri.

Peete was named as a suspect in the January 28 shooting of a 38-year-old male from Kansas City, Missouri. The victim was reportedly taken by friends to Canton, Missouri, where he was discovered by the Canton Police Department.

The victim was taken to Blessing Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Peete was lodged in the Marion County Jail on a Parole Violation detainer and 24-hour hold.
