Pike County Ambulances to change location

Posted:
PITTSFIELD, Ill. (WGEM) -

Pike County, Illinois is making major changes to better serve its citizens.  County officials are making plans for a new ambulance building to be built near the new Quincy Medical Group Clinic in Pittsfield.

Right now the ambulances are stationed in the Illini Community Hospital lot, but the hospital wants to use the space for other reasons.  County board officials said having emergency management under one roof is a big advantage.

"You know communication is a key in emergencies. And in a situation where the ambulance runs, if you have better communication, then things most of the time work smoothly," Andy Borrowman said.

Andy Borrowman expects the building to cost more than $1,000,000, but right now plans are in the preliminary stages.
