Local Students Join Cake-A-Palooza

It was an enchanting day for kids over at the Quincy Mall for the annual Cake-A-Palooza.

Organizers say hundreds of kids came Saturday to take enchanted walks, plant magic beanstalks and make their own crowns.

The kids area featured fairy-tale themed decorations created by students in the Quincy Senior High School art program, and parents were impressed.

"It looks great, my kids were excited. We walked in and they were like 'look at all the princesses mommy, this is so cool," said parent Jessica Neiders.

Other schools got involved too, with volunteers from John Wood Community College and Quincy Notre Dame.

Proceeds from the kids area go to the YWCA. Organizers say they exceeded their goal within the first two hours of the event.
