Baldwin Intermediate School Students kicked off their ninth annual Jump Rope and Hoops For Heart campaign on Monday.
All this week, Baldwin students are sharpening their jump rope and basketball skills in gym class to promote heart health.
Students are also collecting money from the community to donate to the American Heart Association, something school officials say helps kids become more solid members of the community.
"They can go out and collect donations for the American Heart Association, which that helps so many different programs," Baldwin Physical Education Teacher Jennifer Oitker said. "Not only for the kids but it also teaches them they can be a responsible member of society."
To mark the event, each day "local celebrities" will join the kids in gym class. Quincy firefighters got their chance to hop in on the fun on Monday.
