QUINCY, IL. (WGEM) -- The future is now for dozens of area high school athletes when it comes to where they plan to call home this fall.

Sometimes the decision takes an athlete thousand of miles from home, in the case of QND soccer star Taylor Reis who's heading to England in a few months.

Sometimes the choice is made to stay a little closer to home.

This afternoon, QND's Nathan Dreyer and Lexie Broemmer both pledged Quincy University.

Dreyer will play soccer while Broemmer plans to tee it up with the Lady Hawks golf team.

" think (my parents) are really going to like it," Dreyer told WGEM Sports.

"I had a couple options on where I could have gone that were further away, but the kind of helped me lean towards here because now they can come out and watch these games and experience it with me."

In Broemmer's case, the proximity to home, and size of the school made her decision easy.

"I also like that (QU) is a small school as compared to large universities, where you're just a number," Broemmer expressed.

"I'm also really happy with the program that coach (Nick) Meyers is putting together for the girls golf team. I also like that we're up and coming, and the girls have been much more successful this season than they have recently."
