Hannibal senior Jawaun Cassidy signs his letter of intent to Missouri Valley on Tuesday afternoon.
HANNIBAL, MO. (WGEM) -- The Hannibal football program celebrated with one of its top seniors this afternoon as talented two way standout Jawaun Cassidy signed his national letter of intent with Missouri Valley.
Cassidy says his choice was two fold.
He's got a chance to play for a perennial power while also focusing on life after football.
"They have the winningest program in NAIA, so I chose to go there because I feel like I can better myself there, rather than go somewhere else," Cassidy told WGEM Sports.
"Even if I can't go in and play as soon as I can, it's better to learn under someone great."
Cassidy will also bring a part of athletics with him to the classroom this fall.
"I actually decided that I'm going to be doing sports marketing, I'm a part of DECA here at the HCT building, and that's what I'm going to plan on doing in college."
Cassidy played a key role in helping the Pirates to a 10 win season and a district championship berth.
