Cedar Creek Trail Fund Receives Big Donation

The Complete Cedar Creek Campaign is $200,000 closer to its $500,000 goal. Today Blessing Health System and the Quincy Medical Group each donated $100,000 to go towards a portion of the second phase of construction, which is to expand the current trail from 12th Street to 5th Street.

Friends of the Trails is seeking $500,000 in donations and pledges by the end of 2014 to fund a portion of this phase, and Ed Seger with the Quincy Park District says they are now around $45,000 shy of their goal. He says the addition of the completed trail would add so much to the community. "A nice, safe place for kids to ride bikes and to jog and to do those kinds of things, and this makes it long enough to be a much bigger experience, once it's completed from 18th to the Riverfront," he said.

If the goal is met, the Quincy Park District will match the funds through general obligation or alternate bonds.
