Students Learn Electricity Safety

Students at Payson-Seymour High School had a shocking demonstration Wednesday. Former electric lineman Kyle Finley brought in live power lines to show students the dangers they can encounter with electricity in their homes, and even on the road.

Adams Electric Co-Op invites Finley to tour local schools each year, and officials said it's good for young people to see the demonstration up close.

"He's got such a powerful message, especially for young people, new drivers, His focus really is on electric safety, safety around power lines, but he really talks about possible accidents involving power lines," said Bill Stalder with Adams Electric Co-Op, who sets up these talks.

Finley showed  students the possible electric dangers in everything from a squirrel in a transformer to texting and driving.
