The Valentine's Day love is spreading to other species, a growing number of people are getting gifts for their pets.
According to a new survey from the National Retail Federation, one in five Americans will show their non-human companions some love, spending $815 million.
Mitch Brogdon at Pets Supplies Plus says Valentine's Day is about that special connection, even with our four legged friends.
"Animals are just like family in a way to people. I mean, we have that bond with them so it's just as special," Brogdon said. "I really don't think one's more special than the other one. So as long as you share it with someone, I think why not."
Brogdon says some of the most popular gifts are doggie treats, clothes, and even Valentine's Day cards.
