Action Brown County launches economic development initiative

The Mt. Sterling Uptown Initiative has a new name,  "Action Brown County."

Brown County Residents met up tonight to celebrate the newly re-named economic development group with a launch party.

Under the new name-- Action Brown County or ABC, Thursday night's event unveiled new plans for the future of the entire county, not just Mt. Sterling.

At the launch, residents learned about five new committees that will be formed to help promote economic growth in Brown county.

The committees will focus on how to improve the county's physical condition, and marketing the county's unique characteristics, and officials with ABC say much of that work will be done with the help of volunteers.

"The purpose of Action Brown County is to work for the economic well being and the health of our community, so it really capitalizes on work that's been done so far over the last few years, and there are various projects and various activities, that have happened thanks to volunteers," said Suzy Kassing, Board President of Action Brown County.

Kassing says Action Brown County will also be conducting numerous fundraisers to help pay for the upcoming revitalization projects.
