On To The Next One: QND preps for Chatham-Glenwood

QUINCY, IL. (WGEM) -- No matter the test or the challenge, the QND Lady Raiders have delivered this season over a unblemished 25-0 campaign.

In less than 24 hours, the page will be turned to the next task at hand, in a sectional semifinal match-up with Chatham Glenwood.

Notre Dame and Glenwood have already met this year, in a game that the Lady Raiders won by nine points last month, a rare close call for Eric Orne and company.

Needless to say they are zoned in and not taking their opponent lightly heading into Monday's showdown.

"(Chatham) is very athletic and very physical defensively," Orne told WGEM Sports.

"They had a good game plan last time we played them in Chatham. We need to knock down some shots early, maker sure we settle down first, and I think will really help us, but I think it comes down to defense."

"Once you get into a sectional you know you've got a grinder of a game and I think that's what we've got to prepare ourselves for."

In the first meeting, foul trouble slowed the Lady Raider attack, and with all-state forward Jordan Frericks on the bench, Kassidy Gengenbacher had to step up her game.

"They're a very talented team, and from what I remember they're very quick and aggressive like we are, so I think defense is going to play a big part again," Gengenbacher expressed.

"We have to do the things we've done in these past two games and grind one out, and we'll come out successful."

Over a phenomenal stretch that includes back-to-back state titles, four consecutive regional championships, and 48 wins in a row, the theme for QND has been an unmatched consistency.

The approach that starts with practice and preparation, and never taking an opponent, or an opportunity for granted.

"We started practicing differently," said Orne.

"We understood what it took to be successful everyday with hard work at practice, and just looking at the day we have in front of us, not looking forward to anything else."

"When you get that kind of discipline I think it pays off day in and day out, especially when you get in the post season."

QND and Chatham-Glenwood tip off at 6 o'clock on Monday night in the 3A Mt. Zion sectional semifinal.
