QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- For the second consecutive season the Quincy Notre Dame wrestling team had four individuals qualify for the state meet.
Only this year the Raiders had three medallists for the first time in program history.
Considering the school has only had three All-State wrestlers since 1966, the fact they had three place in one year is certainly something to be celebrated.
The school did just that on Tuesday afternoon honoring Jeff Haley who placed third, Gage Stephens who won a fifth medal, and Darren Stephens who finished sixth.
Admittedly, Haley says it's nice to be recognized.
"I feel like wrestling is a great sport to be involved in. I've been in it my whole life and it's just great to now be noticed here at QND," Haley explained.
"It's awesome breaking another school record because last year we broke the one with having four guys at the state tournament. This year having three guys place at once it's honor to have that record broken."
Haley says the future is bright considering he's returning next season along with Darren Stephens and state qualifier Blake Schutte.
