Quincy Schools have a game plan for the snow on Thursday

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

A big question for a lot of parents tonight is will my child have school tomorrow or will they be sent home early?

Quincy School Transportation Director Shane Barnes says starting early in the morning, he'll be in constant contact with city crews and his bus drivers about road conditions. Barnes says there's a strong possibility Quincy schools will get out early, depending on when the snow starts falling.

But he says the superintendent makes the ultimate decision and there are deadlines already in place.

"5:45am is when we make the decision to cancel school. And our early release deadline that we have is 10:30am. And that gives us time to cancel afternoon, early childhood, and be ready to take the kids home as well," said Shane Barnes, the QPS Director of Transportation.

If there is school tomorrow and your kids get picked up by the bus, Barnes says be sure to bundle them up and make sure they know to stay away from the curb since cars could slide on the slippery roads.
