Taking a ride along with a rural road plow truck

The constant wind is making things especially difficult for crews trying to clear rural roads. I was told the last truck rolled back in here about two and a half hours ago.

Officials say they pulled the snow plows off the rural roads around 3:30pm, after going non-stop since the snow storm started yesterday. While most of the main county roads have improved...many rural residents still aren't out of the woods just yet.

During my ride along with a county plow driver today I watched as he battled several big snow drifts. If you do find yourself getting stuck though, there are a few things you can try.

"And I've heard some people carrying sand bags in the back of their cars for weight. And some people carry Oil-Dri, they can put on the tires to get a little traction to get going again if they get stopped," said Stan Reichert, the Superintendent of Maintenance.

Also, some intersections are still a little slick in the county tonight. While crews have not been putting down a lot of salt they will use it on snow packed areas.
