QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

An 89 year-old Tri-States man has got his name in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Louis Demers is the world's oldest active life guard. Demers works at Quincy's YMCA as a lifeguard and CPR instructor.

Demers said he loves his job and he doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon.

"I love it. It gets me out of the house. I mean it's just great. The kids and everything and I just enjoy it so much. They always say stay active and that's what I am trying to do," said Demers.

Demers was inducted into the Illinois Aviation Hall of Fame last year. He has been a flight instructor for 64 years.
