Snow slows voter turnout in Quincy

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Voter turn out was down Tuesday in Quincy due to the storm.

According to Adams County Clerk Georgia Volm, just over 300 voters turned out to cast a ballot in that third ward alderman primary.

Volm says when the road conditions cleared late this morning, there was an up tick in voters, but she says they still saw very low numbers.

"I think that those people who are really interested in what's going on in politics here locally did come out. It wasn't a high turnout, it was a primary, there wasn't a lot of our voters out, we had the potential for four thousand voters.," she said.

Voter turnout in Adams County was just under nine percent.

Volm says of all of the election judges at the Christ Lutheran Church location, only one of them couldn't make it because of the weather.
