24th Street closed in Quincy after car runs into utility pole near Maine

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Traffic was closed on 24th Street in Quincy near Maine Street on Tuesday after a car ran into a utility pole.

A Quincy police officer on scene says the car was northbound on 24th and after crashing into the pole, the driver ran away.

The utility pole was broken and will have to be replaced. Ameren crews arrived on scene and supported the lines as a new pole was installed.

24th Street from Maine to Jersey will be closed while repairs are made. Quincy police are searching for the driver of the car.
