Route 79 from Hannibal to Saverton to be resurfaced this summer

Posted:
HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -

This summer, Route 79 south of Hannibal is getting a long overdue facelift with a
$4.4 million project.

The improvements will be made from Route T south to Route E near Saverton.

MoDOT says the main lanes will be resurfaced with five inch thick concrete which is expected to last longer than a typical asphalt overlay.

Work is expected to begin as early as May and should be completed by mid-September.

MoDOT will host a public meeting prior to the start of construction to go over the scheduled road closures and proposed detours.
