Musicians from all across the Tri-States, even as far away as Chicago and St. Louis, are descending on Quincy this weekend.
It's all part of the "Showcase of Excellence," an annual music event put on by Quincy Public Schools, featuring show choirs and jazz bands.
Show organizer and QPS Director of Music Education Kathi Dooley say there's something for every musical taste out there, and even something for those who wouldn't really consider themselves music fans.
"The show choirs are just fabulous entertainment. My goodness--we have some real powerhouse groups coming. The same with the jazz bands," Dooley said. "But even if you're not a huge music fan, just coming to see and hear the hard work that these children have done to produce these amazing products.
The Showcase runs Saturday from 8 a.m.-midnight, with most of the performances taking place at Quincy Senior High. Admission is $10, and the proceeds go to support the music programs in Quincy's schools.
