Keokuk Firefighters Battle House Fire


A family of six is safe after their house caught on fire Sunday afternoon.

It happened just before 2 o'clock in Melody Court in Keokuk. According to firefighters, the blaze was contained to the basement and back bedrooms. They say they were on scene for around three hours.

No people were hurt, however a cat and four rabbits were killed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Red Cross is assisting the family.
