Initial steps will soon be taken to start up contract negotiations between the Quincy School Board and the Quincy Federation of Teachers.
Board president Bill Daniels says that negotiations must begin by April first, but he says teachers typically prefer to start the bargaining meetings after school is out.
In the past contract negotiations have taken several weeks, even months.
He says they oftentimes have to work through disagreements before finally establishing the new contract, but doesn't know what they'll run into this go-around.
"In every collective bargaining we've done, each side has had some issues, and you discuss those - and those you agree on, you do. So, I'm not aware of anything specifically right now," said Daniels.
Daniels says in the midst of negotiations, they are also seating new school board members.
