Culver-Stockton to offer free FAFSA assistance

Time is running out to file your FAFSA forms, and one local college is going to help you fill out those confusing forms.

Going to college is getting more expensive, luckily the government offers help to families-that's if they fill out the free application for federal student aid.

But with dozens of questions about parent and student finances, as well as tax information, there are a lot of confusing steps to go through.

Culver-Stockton College offered help tonight to families going through the financial aid process.

"There's a lot of questions on the FAFSA that is kind of trick questions. You're not sure exactly what numbers you're supposed to put in where. So even though you have your taxes done, even though you have W-2's, they're still tricky questions to answer," said parent Karen Porter.

The Missouri Department of Higher Education lists April first as the latest date families can submit their FAFSA information for their best chances of receiving aid, but it also states individual schools may have earlier deadlines and families should go by that.

It is open to the public.
