URBANA, Ill. (AP) -- A woman in central Illinois who spit on a nurse at a hospital has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Fifty-year-old Nadine Godden of Champaign pleaded guilty to aggravated battery after admitting she spit in the face of a nurse in January while she was a patient at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/ZSuzYG ) that a judge sentenced her on Thursday.
A second count of aggravated battery alleging she bit a security guard's arm and spit on him was dismissed in return for her guilty plea.
Assistant State's Attorney Stephanie Weber says Godden had been brought to the hospital extremely intoxicated and, after using the restroom, refused to return to her room. She spit on the nurse while employees were trying to restrain her.
