CANTON, MO. (WGEM) -- Even though it didn't end with a National Championship, the Culver-Stockton men's basketball team went above and beyond what anyone could have dreamed this season.
From just four wins a year ago, all the way to the NAIA Elite 8, falling just four points shy of a Final Four berth.
On Saturday, students, fans, and the surrounding community welcomed their team back to Canton, where the Wildcats were met at Charles Fieldhouse this afternoon following their trip home from Kansas City.
As head coach Jack Schrader pointed out, not only did his team turn heads with it's play on the court, but the support from the stands at the Municipal Arena was well noted over the past week.
"Obviously you, the fans give yourself a big shout," Schrader said in front of Saturday's crowd.
"You don't know how many people in Kansas City said that we had by far the best fan support of any team in the country. "
The Wildcats finish the season with a (26-9) record overall, and their run to the Elite Eight caps the best post season finish in program history.
