Western Illinois headed to College Basketball Invitational

(WGEM) -- The Western Illinois basketball season didn't end exactly as planned, but nonetheless, the country has taken notice of what Jim Molinari and the Summit Leagues regular champions have done throughout the year.

For the second consecutive time, the Leathernecks are headed to the post season.

Western has accepted an invite to play in the College Basketball Invitational, where they will travel to Purdue on Wednesday to take on the Boilermakers in first round action.

Purdue finished the big ten at (8-10) with a (15-17) record overall.

We'll have more on this match-up in the days ahead.
