With slick roads, the chance of an accident can be higher

Since the roads can be slick when icy, the chances of getting in a vehicle accident can be higher.

Officials say if you are involved in an accident the first priority is to check to see if anyone is injured, and if so, call emergency responders.

Then, find a safe spot to exchange contact and insurance information with the other motorists.

Officials say you don't have to file a police report unless you think the damage exceeds $1,500 in Iowa and Illinois and $500 in Missouri.
