Weather helping Northeast Missouri Rural Roads

Posted:
LEWIS COUNTY, Mo. (WGEM) -

Right now many main roads and highways are clear of the heavy snow we got in Sunday's storm, but there are still some roads tonight that are a mess.

Despite some melting Monday, you can still see rural and gravel roads with snow on them... and while gravel roads may look better than what they have in past snow storms, they are still not in good condition.

"The last storm it really took forever to warm back up with all the roads. With this one, it didn't take as long. It pretty much didn't take as long. It just took a few hours and it's better," said Adam Harvey who travels on rural roads everyday.

Harvey said getting out from a rural road this morning was difficult, and he's concerned with refreezing Monday night.

Because of the messy roads, several area school districts are running school buses on hard surface roads only.
