Winner of Quincy Business Plan Competition opens for business

A start up business tailored towards meeting the needs of area seniors is now open in Quincy, thanks to a little help from the Chamber of Commerce.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Wednesday for Golden Bridges. The service company will help families coordinate moves for seniors, like downsizing, relocating, and helping get rid of personal belongings.

Golden Bridges was one of the winners of the 2012 Business Plan Competition, getting $10,000 to make their dreams a reality.

"It's one of those things we've been thinking about going into business for ourselves, we had an idea. But when the business plan competition was announced, it was now or never girls, we've got to do it. And that money has allowed us to go and get the training that we need."

This year's business plan competition is offering another $10,000 prize. If you would like to enter, stop by the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce office in the Oakley Lindsay Center.
