How can local, state and federal government leaders work together for what's best for our community?
That was the focus of Friday morning's annual breakfast hosted by Illinois State Representative Jil Tracy.
U.S. Congressman Rodney Davis from Illinois was the keynote speaker who said government is vital in the role in plays in our communities...it can help, but it can also hurt.
Tracy says right now, the Illinois government is failing its people by spending too much, not paying its bills on time and putting in too many rules and regulations on business.
"You can ask anybody about getting certain permits to build a business in Iowa or Missouri and it's much easier and quicker process to build a business than it is in Illinois. We're much more tardy. You come over here as a beautician or a nurse in Illinois and it takes months to get licenses and certification and the like," said Tracy, (R) 94th District - Illinois.
Rep. Tracy also says the state has to address the growing pension debt, because that affects everything else in the budget.
