Starting kindergarten can be a nerve racking experience for not only kids, but also parents.
To help ease the transition, elementary schools in Quincy held a special event Friday. The Kindergarten Roundup let preschoolers and their parents visit their future school.
They got to meet the teachers and learn about school policies and requirements for physicals and immunizations.
Ellington Kindergarten Teacher Leslie Vigor says the round up is especially good for the kids so they can learn from other students what kindergarten will be like.
"The preschoolers are paired up with my own kindergartners and they are coloring books together," Vigor said. "And my kindergartners are reading books to them and showing them what they will be learning next year when they come to kindergarten. And basically just becoming more comfortable with the surroundings."
If you missed Friday's event, call your elementary school office as soon as you can to get the information you need before the summer.
