PEORIA, Ill. (WGEM) - A man killed early Tuesday morning in Peoria has been identified as a Quincy resident, authorities say.
NBC affiliate WEEK in Peoria tells WGEM News that the Peoria Police Department reported Brandon Thomas, of Quincy, was found with gunshot wounds at approximately 1 a.m. Tuesday behind a home in south Peoria. Thomas was pronounced dead an hour later.
Peoria Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard said in a news conference Tuesday afternoon that the shooting is believed to be gang related and could possibly be tied with a homicide that occurred about two blocks away last Sunday.
Authorities told WEEK that Thomas grew up in Peoria and traveled back and forth to a residence in Quincy.
