Quincy Notre Dame student to be 20th graduate to enter West Point

A local high school senior has been accepted into one of the most prestigious colleges in the world, the U.S. Military Academy in West Point.

Steven Musholt was joined by family and friends Wednesday morning at Quincy Notre Dame for the announcement. He is the 20th Quincy Notre Dame student to be accepted into West Point and will join three current QND alumni currently attending, including his brother.

"He'll be a senior when I'm a freshman, Musholt said. "It will be nice seeing a familiar face every once and awhile. Not only with him, but also the other people from Quincy that are at West Point."

Musholt says becoming a cadet is a dream come true.

"It just means a lot to be able to protect the freedoms that we experience everyday. And to be able to lead soldiers, it's going to be an unbelievable experience. I look forward to my time in the Army."

Musholt says he plans to major in engineering.
